Knowing When to Take a Break

Happy Autumn!🍂
I hope everyone is enjoying the autumn season so far. It’s my favorite time of year, and I sure am! I love when the weather gets cooler and crisper and all of my favorite fall foods become available (pomegranates, pumpkin spice lattes, and cranberry orange muffins!). The same way the cozy comfort of fall makes us want to slow down, I’ve found that I need a quick break to take in the changing season and the calm of October.
What's Been Going On....
As many of you know, my book Love Across Spectrums is currently on sale on Amazon for $4.99, down from its regular price of $12.99. I’ve been working hard on social media to get the news out to couples who may need it, which means promoting on multiple platforms, creating new content daily, and so on. Unfortunately, with all that promotion, I’m running out of the creative energy I need to give you the standard of content you deserve. So, I’m taking a step back from posting new content on social media until October 26, 2026.
While I won't be active or responding to messages during this time, you can still browse my library of past tips on all major platforms (@authoramyzo), or dive into longer-form videos over on my YouTube channel.
I’m sad to step away, but I keep reminding myself that self-care like this is one of the cornerstones of what I hope all of you will embrace. When your partner is on the autism spectrum, it’s crucial to stay healthy, both for yourself and so you can show up for them as your most patient, vibrant, and joyful self. One way to do that is to take breaks and scale back when we need to, as I’m choosing to do right now.
Before I start my break, I want to be honest: despite all of my tireless promotion, I can’t get Love Across Spectrums to the couples who need it most without your help. If you’ve read it, please show your support for the book, its message, and autism awareness by leaving an honest Amazon review, even if it’s just a single sentence: https://tinyurl.com/324u4fnu
Lastly, I won’t leave you empty-handed! Here are 7 signs you may need to hit pause and focus on your own self-care:
7 Signs You Need a Break
Constant physical fatigue that a good night's sleep doesn't fix.
Feeling irritable or snapping at your partner over minor things.
A total lack of creative energy or dreading tasks you usually enjoy.
Feeling overwhelmed by daily routines or your social media feeds.
Neglecting your own hobbies or basic routines to keep up with promotion or caretaking.
Mindless scrolling or zoning out because your brain is overstimulated.
A lingering feeling of resentment or anxiety about your to-do list.
Follow up with a professional for diagnosis and further guidance if you notice these symptoms, as they can also point to other things. In the meantime, consider taking things a bit slower, easier, and giving yourself some grace!
Take a look at my past library of posts for deep dives into how I handle these moments. I'll see you all refreshed and recharged on October 26! Happy Autumn🎃☕🍂
